About me
My name is Deborah and I am a trained Funeral Celebrant as well as a nurse of 26 years. I love people, I love working with them, supporting them and caring for them. The role of a celebrant allows me to draw on my personable skills but also my creative skills in writing and the use of music and poetry to celebrate a life lived and loved.
I chose the Celebrant path after writing eulogies for friends and family members. It is a privilege to speak not only of the chronology of a person’s life but to encapsulate the true essence of that person’s personality and character.
I live in a village on the border of South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire with my husband, older children and gorgeous dog. I love the simplicity of walking, talking and just bumbling about in my Campervan, visiting family in Cornwall and squeezing as much joy out of life as I can. My nursing career has been vast and varied, I have worked in many acute settings supporting patients and families during their most difficult days and it is these skills that I draw upon to support you.
Why do we have funerals?
The world of funerals and saying farewell is evolving. We are seeing the way we mark the death of loved one change in recent years, people are prebooking, preplanning, having unattended services, some people are using hotels and bespoke settings which is all very much up to the individual and their family. It is my belief that to process a death and grieve we need to come together and take a moment in time to mark a life and share thoughts and memories about that person. This can be a gathering before death (a FUN-eral), a Memorial service, a Celebration of Life, a Funeral, a scattering of ashes, burial or interment, I can support and guide you through them all.
Please get in touch if you think I may be able to help you and for further details.
